The Journeyman Plumber is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. This role requires a high level of expertise and experience in plumbing work, adhering to all relevant codes and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Installation and Repair:- Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems and fixtures, including water heaters, pumps, drainage systems, and piping.
- Interpret blueprints and building specifications to map layout for pipes, drainage systems, and other plumbing materials.
- Install and connect plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, showers, and bathtubs.
- Conduct regular inspections of plumbing systems to identify and resolve issues.
- Perform routine maintenance on plumbing systems to ensure optimal operation.
- Troubleshoot and repair issues with water supply lines, waste disposal systems, and related appliances.
- Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal plumbing codes and regulations.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
- Keep up to date with the latest industry standards and advancements.
- Interact with clients in a professional and courteous manner.
- Provide detailed explanations of work performed and any necessary repairs or upgrades.
- Offer recommendations for improving the efficiency and functionality of plumbing systems.
- Work collaboratively with other construction professionals, including electricians, HVAC technicians, and general contractors.
- Mentor and supervise apprentices and junior plumbers to ensure high-quality work and adherence to standards.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a plumbing apprenticeship program.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience as a plumber, with a proven track record of successful installations and repairs.
- Licenses/Certifications: Valid journeyman plumber license; additional certifications (e.g., backflow prevention, gas piping) are a plus.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of plumbing codes, safety regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to use plumbing tools and equipment effectively.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and equipment (up to 50 pounds).
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and at various heights.
- Capable of standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
- Work is performed in various settings, including residential homes, commercial buildings, and construction sites.
- Exposure to different weather conditions when working outdoors.
