6:00PM - 7:00PM: Workshop - "Initiating Change… A Workshop on Racial Justice"
About the Workshop:
America today is more diverse than ever and as a result, many organizations and institutions have had to consider the ways that white supremacy interacts with their policies, practices and procedures. This presentation will allow leaders to reflect on their own racial identities and consider the ways that they can influence their organization to become more thoughtful and equitable.
Participants will learn about and have the opportunity to reflect on the ways in which individual identity and elements of white supremacy show up in organizations. They’ll engage in self-reflection around their own racialization as well as consider how individuals with non-dominant identities are (or are not) represented in the leadership of the groups they are a part of. Our speaker will share his own experience with racialization as a Black man and will help shed light on actionable work that participants can do today. Goal setting opportunities as well as resources to consider while building an inclusive community will be provided.
